Communion

Partake And Remember At Home

Communion, is a remembrance of the Lord’s Supper. It is a symbolic way for us to remember and celebrate what Jesus did for us. Every time we break bread and drink from the cup, we are reminded of His sacrifice on the cross. This ritual not only shows that we belong to Jesus, but also forgiven because of His shed blood. (Matthew 26:26-28; 1 Corinthians 11:23-24)

The bread and the cup represent Jesus’ body and blood. When we eat the bread, we are reminded that His body was broken for us. And when we drink from the cup, we remember that His blood was shed for us. (Luke 22:19-20)

Communion is open to everyone who follows Jesus.

Communion is a time for us to remember what Jesus did for us and to thank Him for His ultimate sacrifice.

“Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment. When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.” (1 Corinthians 11:27-32)

Before partaking of communion, you should ask God’s forgiveness of all of your sins. You may also wish to say some prayers, such as the Our Father.

START COMMUNION BY SAYING:

On the day of the last supper,
Jesus took the bread, broke it, gave thanks, then gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,
FOR THIS IS MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
When supper was ended,
He took the cup, gave thanks,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CUP OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND EVERLASTING COVENANT,
WHICH IS GIVEN TO YOU
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

Say a prayer of thanks to Jesus.
